MGT 4005 - SEMINAR IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS


credits: 3.0
The course will be divided into two parts: A) A review of the theory and practice of international business, with emphasis on cultural, economic, financial, political, marketing, business policy and ethical factors affecting international business and multi-national corporations, US and foreign. B) Discussion of special situations in the field of study, by means of cases, readings, and consideration of major current and historical developments in the field. Key aspects of doing business internationally will thereby be brought into focus, as will strategies affecting management, marketing, organization, production, personnel, and government relations. Objectives: The course will provide the opportunity for students to relate prior and current formal course studies to the real life situations represented by topical events, their own personal experience, and important milestones in the development of international business in recent years. Method of Instruction: Lecture, discussions, guest speakers, readings, field experience, review of key developments in the field of study as represented by selected magazine and journal articles and current events, films, case studies, and term projects. Method of Evaluation: Quizzes, exams, assignments, and case studies. Meets *GLP Distribution Requirement. NOTE: If there is a field trip planned, there could a field trip fee: TBA.

Prerequisite(s): MGT 2240 PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT , MKT 2250 PRINCIPLES OF MARKETING , ECO 2010 PRINCIPLES OF MICROECONOMICS   (or) MGT 2240 PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT , MKT 2250 PRINCIPLES OF MARKETING , ECO 2020 PRINCIPLES OF MACROECONOMICS
