ECO 2020 - PRINCIPLES OF MACROECONOMICS credits: 3.0 NOTE: Either ECO 2010 or ECO 2020 can be taken first. Will study the economy from a macroeconomic perspective. Starting with a basic understanding of GDP, standards of living and inflation, we will examine the determination of economic growth in the long-run and then move on to an in-depth analysis of short-run fluctuations of output. This will include a detailed understanding of the Federal Reserve and its role in formulating monetary policy as well as the government’s role in fiscal policy and the effects of both types of policies on the economy. Method of Instruction: Classes will be a combination of lecture and discussion. Students will be expected to have read assigned materials prior to the class for which they are assigned. Meets *MQR Distribution Requirements.
Prerequisite(s): ALEKS score of > 46 will also be required and MAT 1030 - COLLEGE ALGEBRA (or) MAT 1090 - PRECALCULUS (or) MAT 1060 - MODELING THE REAL WORLDWITH MATHEMATICS (or) MAT 2010 - CALCULUS I .
