CSD 3000 - NEUROGENIC DISORDERS OF COMMUNICAT


credits: 3.0
Will study various neurologically-based disorders, such as aphasia, traumatic brain injury, apraxia, dysarthria, and dysphagia, which can be acquired throughout the lifespan. Objectives: Students will demonstrate knowledge of the types and neurological correlates of various neurogenic communication disorders; symptoms and differential diagnosis of these disorders; impact of these disorders on daily life; treatment methods; and prevention approaches. Method of Instruction: Lectures, discussions, case studies, and videos. Method of Evaluation: Three exams and several reaction papers.

Prerequisite(s): CSD 2100 - INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS  and CSD 2150 - ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY FOR SPEECH AND LANGUAGE  and CSD 2250 - LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT  (or) CSD 2100 - INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS  and CSD 2150 - ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY FOR SPEECH AND LANGUAGE   and CSD 2250 - LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT  and CSD 2350 - SPEECH AND HEARING SCIENCE .
