CSD 2100 - INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS credits: 3.0 Objectives: A) Demonstrate an understanding of basic theories of the development of normal communicative abilities; B) Demonstrate knowledge of the terminology and classification of speech, language, and hearing disorders; C) Demonstrate an understanding of the pathological and theoretical aspects of speech, language, and hearing problems of children and adults; D) Complete a minimum of 25 hours of guided observation. Method of Instruction: Open to Freshmen. Will be taught primarily through lecture, demonstration, and class discussions. Films, videos and audio-tapes, as well as direct clinical observations, will be used to enhance the student’s ability to recognize and identify disorder types. Method of Evaluation: Exams, quizzes, and assignments.
