CSD 2150 - ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY FOR SPEECH AND LANGUAGE credits: 3.0 This course provides an introduction and overview to the anatomy and physiology of the systems of communication. Objectives: A) Name and describe specific structures, muscles, and functions of the respiratory, phonatory, articulatory, and the central and peripheral nervous systems; B) Name and describe the primary structures, muscles and functions of the speech mechanism as related to normal speech production; C) Describe the relationship between deviant structures and processes and various speech and language disorders. Method of Instruction: Lectures will constitute the primary method of instruction. Visual aides will be used to supplement lectures.
