HCM 4510 - HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP credits: 3.0 This is a credit variable credit for 3.0 OR 6.0 credits. This internship is for students pursuing the B.S. in Healthcare Management. Working with regional healthcare organizations, students will gain experiences in areas including human resources, day-to-day operations, healthcare finance, administration, and healthcare policy, to name a few examples. Students will choose a faculty member to supervise the internship. Objectives: A) Students will successfully apply the Healthcare Management foundation course work in the field; B) At least one additional learning outcome, specific to the internship, will be developed by the student and faculty member, defined and agreed to prior to beginning the internship; the faculty member will assess the student on the learning outcome at the conclusion of the internship. Method of Instruction: This is an internship; learning will be experiential, and specific to the internship opportunity. Method of Evaluation: Ethical behavior; completion of assigned tasks; professional conduct and appearance; initiative; willingness to contribute; communication; ability to work with others. The supervisor will also verify that the minimum number of hours has been satisfied. The faculty member will assess the final product that was mutually agreed upon. No student can pass the internship without completing the minimum number of hours for a 6.0 credit internship. Graded on a S-D-F basis. Meets Career Related Internship Requirements.
Prerequisite(s): Junior or Senior status. Signature Required. Also need to complete a contract with the Office of Career Services, before registering for course and HCM 3010 - FOUNDATIONS OF HEALTHCAREMANAGEMENT
