CSD 2900 - SPEECH - LANGUAGE SERVICES IN THE SCHOOL credits: 3.0 Provides an overview of speech/language pathology services provided within the public school system. Will demonstrate an understanding of the structure and operational procedures of clinical programs in the public schools including: the impact of federal and state legislation; testing procedures; referral procedures; scheduling; programming; communication with parents and school personnel; in-service training; professional accountability; certification requirements. Method of Instruction: Will meet regularly with the instructor for lectures and discussion of readings. Method of Evaluation: Will be evaluated on the quality of short paper, hands-on projects, a mid-term project and a final exam.
Prerequisite(s): CSD 2100 - INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS and EDU 1010 - FOUNDATIONS OF EDUCATION
