BIO 3120L - ECOLOGY LABORATORY credits: 1.0 Will concentrate on terrestrial plants and animals and in particular arthropods, and northeastern temperate forests to explore the methods of ecology and how we learn about the world around us through experimentation and observation. The lab will explore these ecological methods, including statistics and sampling, through studying the common and important organisms and habitats of upstate New York. Objectives: A) Practice basic sampling methods and evaluate their various advantages and disadvantages; B) Statistically sample an area and analyze the data produced; C) Present an independently designed and executed field research project to the class. Method of Instruction: Laboratory demonstration, field work, lecture, and hands-on experimentation. Method of Evaluation: Based lab notebooks and presentation (50/50). LAB FEE: $125.00.
Prerequisite(s): BIO 1022 - GENERAL BIOLOGY II Co-Requisite(s): MUST BE TAKEN WITH A BIO 3120 LECTURE.
