BIO 1022 - GENERAL BIOLOGY II credits: 3.0 Is the second in a two-term introduction to biology for biology majors, examining the unifying concepts of biology and the processes that have produced the diversity of living things. This diversity will be examined with emphasis on animals and their classification, structure, physiology, behavior, and ecology. Together with BIO 1020 , this course provides a solid foundation on which to build and organize concepts learned in more detail in upper level courses. Objectives: A) Describe the general principles, overarching concepts, and theories relevant to the diversity of animal life, including structure, physiology, behavior, and ecology; B) Develop critical thinking skills; C) Practice scientific reasoning, writing and other skills necessary for a practicing biologist. Method of Instruction: Lecture, reading and interpretation of articles. Method of Evaluation: Based on exams, quizzes, and active participation in in-class discussion of readings.
