BIO 3062L-CHE 3062L is the laboratory component of the biochemistry course sequence. Students will perform basic biochemical laboratory techniques, such as DNA mutagenesis, DNA sequencing, bacterial transformation, protein purification, and enzyme function analysis. Objectives: A) Demonstrate appropriate data collection and analysis; B) Perform standard techniques for working with E. coli bacteria; C) Perform standard DNA techniques; D) Demonstrate professional scientific writing skills. Method of Instruction: Laboratory demonstration, lecture, and hands-on experimentation. Method of Evaluation: Grading for this course will be based on laboratory notebooks (20%), participation (20%), weekly reports (30%), final reports and poster (30%). LAB FEE: $75.00.
