BIO 3080 - CELL BIOLOGY credits: 4.0 Objectives: To provide the student with an understanding of the relationships between eucaryotic cellular structure and their functions. The student will learn to: A) To describe the eucaryotic cell in terms of cell structures and their interrelationships; B) To compare the different cellular transport mechanisms in terms of membrane structure; C) Describe the interactions of cellular and molecular structures in gene replication and cell division; D) Trace the process of gene expression and its regulations at the transcriptional and translational levels. Method of Instruction: Three one hours lecture and discussion sessions plus one three hour lab session per week. Attendance required. Method of Evaluation: Research paper (25%), mid-term exam (20%), final exam (30%) and lab reports (25%). Meets *WRT Distribution Requirement. Lab Fee: $75.00.
Prerequisite(s): BIO 1022 - GENERAL BIOLOGY II and CHE 2020 - ORGANIC CHEMISTRY II
