BIO 2121 - PLANT ECOLOGY


credits: 4.0
Plant Ecology will cover physiology, population, community, and other branches of ecology. Inter and intra-specific interactions will be addressed, as well as plant interactions with the non-biotic components of their environments. Students will gain a greater appreciation for the theoretical and practical applications of quantitative environmental analyses. Objectives: A) To provide students with basic knowledge in the theory of how plants interact with their environment and what previous research has demonstrated about plant-environment interactions; B) To provide students with the opportunity to learn different field and laboratory techniques and to assess how plants grow, survive, and interact in the environment; C) To provide students with the ability to make wise decisions about natural resources management. Method of Instruction: Lecture, field trips, and laboratory activities. The laboratory section will place a large emphasis on field trips, data collection, analysis, and presentation. Method of Evaluation: Students will be evaluated on their performance on quizzes, exams, lab calculations, and presentations. Lab Fee: $75.00.
