ART 3220 - PAINTING III

An intermediate to advanced studio course in the fundamental, perceptual and conceptual approaches to painting and their application to pictorial organization. Students develop their sensibilities, familiarity and confidence with the painting medium, with a strong emphasis on oils, utilizing their skills as observers leading to a greater understanding of the visual elements as they relate to painting. Students explore the history of painting and how it has been used by artists as a means of expression. Subject matter includes: nude models, self-portraits, still-life, and nature. Course includes brief writing assignments, and group critiques. Method of Instruction: Studio work with lecture information continuous throughout class. Method of Evaluation: Creativity, appropriation of lesson plan, motivation and amount of exploration and experimentation. Course Fee: $50.00.
