ARH 2125 - ROMAN ART

ARH 2125 and ARH 3125 . A study of the architecture, painting, sculpture, and minor arts of Ancient Rome and the Roman Empire from the Eighth Century B.C. to the Fifth Century A.D. The course emphasizes the social, political, religious, and geographical influences on the arts and artifacts of the Roman World. Objectives: A) Will identify and discuss the values and beliefs of ancient Romans through the study of art and architecture from the eighth C. BCE - fifth AD; B) To identify and describe all forms of art and architecture by visual means. Method of Instruction: Lecture and discussion. Method of Evaluation: Midterm and Final (25% and 30% respectively), Quizzes (20%), Five-page essay on a specific building or art object (25%), Quizzes will consist of slide identification, and Midterm and final exams will consist of slide identification and essays. ARH 2125 Meets *WEP Distribution Requirement.
