WMS 2901 - WWW.WOMEN credits: 6.0 Will engage students in a scholarly exploration of women in the Finger Lakes area of New York who work in the out of doors. Students will work in teams to explore and study the issues in the lives of women in the outdoors via interviews, archival research, discussion, and the creation of a World Wide Web site on the Internet. No previous knowledge of computers or the Internet is required. Objectives: A) Learn about outdoors women in New York’s diverse cultural heritage and understand how they reflect women’s responses to life experience, social roles, and cultural history; B) Conduct oral histories and research related to women and work, and the creation of a WWW site. Method of Instruction: Demonstration, supervised fieldwork, lecture, discussion, individual and group projects (in computer lab). Method of Evaluation: Final projects, portfolios, and participation in class meetings.
