PSY 1010 - INTRODUCTORY PSYCHOLOGY credits: 3.0 This course provides an introductory overview of the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. During the course, students become familiar with research methods used by psychologists, as well as various theoretical approaches to understanding behavior. Specific information is covered on such topics as: The biological bases of behavior, perception, language and thinking, human development, learning and memory, stress and coping, personality, behavior problems, and psychotherapy. Method of Instruction: Primarily lecture, supplemented with films and discussion. Method of Evaluation: Exams, quizzes, assignments, and-or participation in projects.
