PSC 2950 - CULTURE AND PEOPLE OF JAPAN credits: 6.0 Crosslisted/Same As: SSC 2950 PSC 2950-SSC 2950 . This course is designed to provide excellent opportunities for students to learn the culture and people of Japan through lectures, contacts with the Japanese people (host-families, etc.) and field trips in Japan as well as through various readings and Japanese language lessons given both in Japan and prior to the departure for Japan. Objectives: A) Acquire basic skills in Japanese; B) Travel to some of the major sites of cultural, historical, and political significance in Japan; C) Obtain a basic understanding of the culture and the people of Japan. Method of Instruction: Lecture, Language lessons-practice, discussion, observation, and participation. Method of Evaluation: Daily journals, final paper (and presentation), observation, discussion, participation in travel and experiences. Meets *NWP Distribution Requirement. TRAVEL COURSE, FEES ASSOCIATED.
