Objectives: A) Demonstrate a knowledge of the underpinnings of contemporary feminist political thought; B) Employ critical thinking and communications skills in discussing the role of women in politics; C) Evaluate the way women in politics are portrayed and treated by the news media; employ critical thinking, the ability to reflect thoughtfully, and to integrate the course material with the world around them through weekly journals and-or their paper; D) Demonstrate through discussion, journals, and the paper a knowledge of how the key women players have been, are, and are likely to be in U.S. politics. Method of Instruction: Lecture and class discussion. Method of Evaluation: Student Journals, a term project, and participation (which takes into account not just the quantity of a student’s involvement, but the quality of it as well as how the student conducts him/herself in the completion of the assigned tasks and is or is not disruptive of the classroom environment).
