PSC 2110 - POLITICAL THOUGHT credits: 3.0 Will introduce students to the tradition of theorizing about political society. Work to understand selected classical and modern political theorists: Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Rousseau, and Marx. The approach will emphasize two features of political theorizing that should help you to develop your own political views. First, these theorists will be viewed as offering resolutions of issues which were important to their times, as well as to most political societies. Second, they will be viewed as searching for a political language with which to best frame and resolve those issues. Method of Instruction: Class lecture and discussion. Method of Evaluation: Short papers on selected theorists and concepts, and final exam. Meets *WEP Distribution Requirement.
