PED 1902 - OUTDOOR ADVENTURE credits: 6.0 To learn basic outdoor adventure skills, camping knowledge, fitness techniques, indoor and outdoor skill activities necessary for the general outdoor adventure enthusiast. The following equipment is generally needed for this class and most can be provide by the college: backpack, sleeping bag, hiking boots, cooking equipment and rain gear. Objectives: Growth in the areas of camping and outdoor pursuits. Understand history and trends of organized camping. Gain knowledge in the areas of physical development and nutrition. Group and individual projects chosen from: special programs, hiking, nature, food preparation and equipment, trip camping, and literature. Method of Instruction: Discussion, text written assignments, exams-written and skill, group and individual projects, and groups meet to prepare group and individual projects for the following week. Method of Evaluation: Class work, individual and group projects, attendance, and daily projects. Meets *PEW Distribution Requirements. Course Fee: $150.00.
