PED 1151 - BEGINNING TENNIS credits: 1.0 CLASS IS HELD AT THE MURRAY ATHLETIC CENTER AND STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION. Objectives: A) To acquire a basic knowledge and understanding of tennis. B) To develop basic tennis skills and techniques. Method of Instruction: Classroom instruction incorporating: A brief history, specific terms, rules and regulations, scoring and equipment, court instruction emphasizing etiquette, footwork, agility, hand-eye-ball coordination, and stroke production. Method of Evaluation: Class participation: Ball tapping skills; skills test (serve, forehand, backhand); playing situation in which the students will be required to apply the basic rules, keep score accurately, and use specific terms familiar to the game. Meets *PEW Distribution Requirements.
Prerequisite(s): STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION.
