PED 1039 - RACQUETBALL SKILLS credits: 1.0 Objectives: To develop the skill and understanding of the game of racquetball including: A history of the game from its origin to the present, types of courts, basic rules and scoring, etiquette and safety, warming up exercises and equipment. The student will be able to perform the following: A) Forehand and backhand drives (wall and cross-courts shots); B) Drive serves, lob and garbage serves (with an illustration of more advanced serves); C) Backwall shots (forehand and backhand); D) Straight and pinch kills (forehand and backhand). Method of Instruction: Discussion and on-court lectures in the following: History, rules, scoring, etiquette and terms. On-court demonstration of the basic skills above. Each student will be given practical experience by participating in drills and playing situations in class. Method of Evaluation: Class attendance and participation, a written test, and a skills test. Meets *PEW Distribution Requirement.
