NSG 3200C - CLINICAL NSG CARE ACROSS LIFESPAN credits: 0.0 Grade of C, minimum of 73, or better in theory portion and a P in the clinical portion must be achieved in order to progress to the next required nursing course. Grade less than a C will require the student to repeat the course if the student remains a nursing major. A failure in the clinical component will result in an F for the course. Is a theory and practicum course where students acquire the necessary competencies to meet the wellness needs of individuals and families throughout the lifespan in a safe, legal, and ethical manner utilizing the nursing process. Will provide and manage collaborative care to patients who are experiencing alterations from birth to death, in family dynamics, reproduction, mental health, addiction, and inter- and intra-personal violence. Objectives: A) Integrate beginning concepts of wellness promotion, disease, injury, and disability prevention with individuals and families across the lifespan in a variety of settings; B) Apply developmental theories, family theory, social science theories, and nursing theories to individuals and families across the lifespan; C) Identify the impact of inter and intrapersonal alterations which impinge upon individuals and families in meeting health care needs from birth to death; D) Utilize the nursing process for the purpose of preserving, restoring, and-or maintaining optimum health of individuals and families across the lifespan; E) Assess individuals and family function and implement evidence-based strategies to facilitate mutually identified level of wellness; F) Utilize principles of therapeutic communication and health teaching in the development of self-care across the lifespan. Method of Instruction: Student-centered classroom learning activities, laboratory and clinical practice, cooperative learning activities, case studies, simulation, flipped lectures, presentations Method of Evaluation: Theory: Quizzes x five 10%; Exam X two 12.5% each 25%; Final 25%; Denver Assessment (under six years of age) 5%; Participation (rubric) 5%; Family Crisis Plan of Care 5%; Pharmacology Presentation 10%; and Patient-Family Education Project (with potential to implement in future term) 15%. Clinical Evaluation: Pass-Fail.
