MGT 3950 - RECRUITING, PERKS (BENEFITS),AND COMPENSATION

The course is designed to provide the student with an in dept understanding and practical ability to implement and explain an advanced job analysis, recruiting compensation and benefits to management and employees of various organizations. Will also focus on the management of employees within the laws and regulations set forth by the federal, local and state governments. As the needs of the workplace continue to evolve and change, so to must the compensation and perks being offered throughout the workplace. Objectives: A) Create job descriptions and apply to the recruiting, interviewing and retaining talent; B) Assess workplace benefits and perks in organizations; C) Describe the rationale for employers to offer a mix of cash and benefits; D) Illustrate the difference between qualified and nonqualified benefit plans retirement plans; E) Assess employer-sponsored health insurance programs; F) Identify and describe disability, paid family leave, worker’s compensation, family medical leave; G) Discover global practices in workplace benefits and perks. Method of Instruction: Lecture, classroom work, group presentations, research, and homework assignments. Method of Evaluation: Course Engagement-Reaction papers, book report, and class attendance and participation 20%; Exam-on the text Comp and Benefit Design 20%; Learning Log-lessons learned from in-class discussions and lecture 10%; Compensation Analysis and Design Project 20%; PTO Policy Design and Present 20%; Perks of the Future Group Presentation 10%.
