LRS 101A - ACCOMPLISH, ACHIEVE, SUCCEED:ACADEMIC STRATEGIES ENRICHMENT credits: 1.5 This course, which is designed to target students in need of additional academic support, will foster the formation of positive academic behaviors, especially for students who are on or at-risk of academic probation. Students will develop and hone academic success strategies such as time management, note taking, test taking, studying, critical thinking, problem solving, academic discourse, academic reading, etc. that will enhance their academic experiences and beyond. With a growth mindset approach, students will engage in discussions, reflect on their growth, and complete assignments that help them to integrate their developing skills into their everyday lives. Objectives: A) Demonstrate effective academic success strategies required throughout the collegiate experience, such as time management, note taking, test taking, studying, critical thinking, problem solving, academic discourse, academic reading, etc.; B) Identify and utilize campus resources to create and manage successful path towards graduation; C) Establish goals for academic success and create and carry out a plan to achieve those goals; D) Exemplify positive, collaborative academic behavior with peers and campus partners. Method of Instruction: Lectures, Discussions, Workshops, Videos/Podcasts, and Assigned Readings. Method of Evaluation: Methods of Evaluation: Will be graded on a Pass-Fail basis. Individual Meeting Attendance and Weekly Journals (25%); Daily Assignments and Papers (25%); Group Presentations (25%); Individual Portfolios and Presentations (25%).
