LAL 1010 - CLASSICAL MYTHOLOGY
credits: 3.0
A study of classical myths of creation, transformation and heroic exploits. Parallel myths in other cultures will also be examined. The mythology of Greece and Rome has had a profound influence on the religions, history and the arts in Western Civilization and we will study the myths not only for their intrinsic values and the pleasures to be derived from them, but also an eye on their influence, especially in the arts, during the past several thousand years. Method of Instruction: Lectures, discussions and some audio-visual materials. Method of Evaluation: Two exams, two developed papers discussing myths and legends on art works and periodic quizzes on current work. Meets *WEP Distribution Requirement.
