ITM 3500 - SYSTEM AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENTFOR MANAGEMENT credits: 3.0 In today’s global economy, businesses rely on technology systems to manage processes and communications. Understanding the essential concepts of system design and programming is important for managers to solve problems with technology and improve business efficiency. Will cover core programming concepts and technology skills managers need to analyze and design information systems in collaboration with technical teams. Objectives: A) Analyze and design information systems to enable informed decisions with technical and business teams; B) Apply the development life cycle of business information systems to solving business challenges; C) Write clear programming specifications to translate business needs into programming processes for technical teams; D) Design and develop a computer application program to solve a business or communications challenge, applying basic design concepts and introductory programming skills. Method of Instruction: Lectures, Assigned readings, and Peer review of programming projects. Method of Evaluation: Written Program specifications and plan (20%); Programming exercises (40%); Final course project to build a web application using HTML, CSS, and Javascript (40%).
