ITM 3000 - CYBERSECURITY FOR MANAGERS

Cybersecurity is a global threat to business organizations and understanding Cybersecurity and how to manage technical risk and protect business resources is critical to conducting business in a global economy. Cybersecurity principles, practices, and strategies for managers to understand the development, and governance of business cybersecurity program. Topics include cybersecurity risk, practices and principles; security controls; data and intellectual property protections; privacy laws and regulations; security education, training, and awareness; and developing a cybersecurity program for business. Objectives: A) Analyze business risks and threat landscape to continually improve cybersecurity defenses and reduce vulnerabilities; B) Critically analyze current Cybersecurity case studies in business by writing reflection papers; C) Select and use a security framework to enhance cybersecurity decision making and planning for a business; D) Speak the language of cybersecurity and technical tools to enable informed decisions with technical and business teams; E) Manage cybersecurity prevention, protection, and business recovery processes; F) Calculate the ROI for a cybersecurity program, and communicate the program plan through writing and oral presentations; G) Develop written communication skills by writing about and reflecting key concepts covered in course readings. Method of Instruction: Readings and lecture, Case study analysis and discussion, and Final course project and team presentations. Method of Evaluation: Writing assignments with four reflection papers on course topics (40 %); Two exams (20%); Team presentation (10%); Final course project to develop and write a CyberSecurity program for a business (30%). Meets *WRT Distribution Requirement.
