HUM 1915 - THE HISTORY, PEOPLES, ANDINSTITUTIONS OF UK AND IRELAND

This course is an introduction to the history, peoples and institutions of one of the major countries in Western Europe through an educational tour of United Kingdom and Dublin Ireland. Specifically, it will introduce the students to the historical, political, economic, artistic, literary, cultural, and educational environment of the country, through a multi-dimensional focus on developments between 1783 and the present day. Students will also be exposed to institutions, such as Parliament, the City of London, Oxford University, major museums, and architecture. NOTE: Students will be selected based upon applications. Method of Instruction: Lectures and films, individual and group activities, field trips, readings, and class discussions. Method of Evaluation: Written research paper (25%), oral presentation, research paper (15%), facilitator and presenter (25%), reflective travel journal (20%), and exams, quizzes, assignments (15%). Meets *WEP Distribution Requirements. TRAVEL COURSE, FEES ASSOCIATED.
