HMS 4999 - APPLIED HUMAN SERVICES credits: 3.0 This course is a variable credit course for 3.0 OR 6.0 credits. This internship is for students who want to work in a human service agency in an administrative role. This internship may include things such as observing or participating in the management of the systems, processes, or administrative procedures related to the operation of human service agencies. Students contract with a faculty member to create a final project of their choice. Objectives: A) Will successfully apply disciplinary knowledge in a social service agency and B) Students and supervising faculty members are expected to develop at least one additional course-specific learning outcome for the internship. The student will be evaluated by the faculty member on the basis of the learning outcomes. Method of Instruction: Conducted as an internship. Method of Evaluation: The faculty member will assess the final product that was mutually agreed for the internship. No student can pass the internship without completing the minimum number of hours for a 3.0 credit OR 6.0 credit internship. Meets FEX-Career Related Internship Requirements.
Prerequisite(s): PREREQISITE: Junior or Senior Class Standing and Instructor’s Signature Required. Also need to complete a contract with the Office of Career Services, before registering for course.
