HMS 3010 - MANAGEMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES AGENCI credits: 3.0 This course examines not-for-profit management and the challenges facing the not-for-profit executive. Key course topics that are relevant to not-for-profit leaders will include board governance, board development, management principles, fiscal management, budget development, ethics, program services, fund raising, marketing and entrepreneurship. Objectives: A) To study the organizational behavior of human service organizations; B) To survey and apply to human service agencies selected theories of organizational behavior; C) To compare human service agencies, and investigate interactions between organizations and their environments; D) To prepare a case study of human service agency of the student’s choice. Method of Instruction: Lecture, group discussions, exercises, and assignments. Method of Evaluation: Class participation, in-class presentation, and papers.
Prerequisite(s): Junior Class Standing.
