HIS 4590 - SENIOR SEMINAR credits: 3.0 Will introduce students to research methods in the field of history and to basic theoretical issues regarding historical knowledge. Students will devote the greater part of their energies to researching and writing a twenty to twenty-five page paper based mainly on primary sources. Will meet to discuss readings in historiography, to share common research problems, and to report on individual research projects. Objectives: A) To develop students’ analytical and research skills; B) To introduce students to historical methods; C) To introduce students to recent historical scholarship. Method of Instruction: Course will be run as a seminar. Method of Evaluation: Research project and class participation. Meets *WRT Distribution Requirement.
Prerequisite(s): JUNIOR OR SENIOR HISTORY MAJOR.
