HIS 1600 - ASIAN HISTORY I credits: 3.0 This course introduces students to the history and culture of South, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, and East Asia, from the earliest times to the medieval period. It summarizes the growth of institutions as well as the manner in which these institutions were transformed over time. It is intended to provide a general foundation on Asian Civilization for the students without any background in Asian studies. Objectives: To provide a basic background in South, Southeast Asian, Southwest Asian, and East Asian history and culture in pre-modern times. Method of Evaluation: Class discussion/work, essay, two tests. and final. Meets *WEP Distribution Requirement.
