FAR 2611 - GREAT AMERICAN FILM DIRECTORS credits: 3.0 Objectives: A) To acquire knowledge of the development of the motion picture medium through representative films made by the great American cinema directors; B) An exploration of the basic craft elements that are used in the making of a motion picture, including the role of the director, actor, cinematographer, and other artistic personnel. Method of Instruction: During each session, a full-length movie directed by an acknowledged master will be presented to the class. The instructor will lead a detailed discussion on the style, theme, artistic contributions, and historical perspective. Method of Evaluation: Will be assigned written critiques and a term paper which will be graded. Attendance and participation in discussion will also be taken into account for the final grade of the course. Meets *WEP Distribution Requirement.
