ENG 4999 - INTERNSHIP IN ENGLISH


credits: 3.0
This course is a variable credit course for 3.0 OR 6.0 credits. This internship is for students interested in utilizing the various disciplinary skills of English in the workplace. Students will choose a faculty member to supervise the internship. The internship can be taken for 3 credits (120 hours) or for 6 credits (240 hours). Objectives: To pass the internship, students must satisfactorily achieve: A) At least one employer-provided outcome related to the discipline of English, evaluated by the employer; B) One additional English-related learning outcome developed by the adviser and student, to be assessed by the adviser through a mutually agreed upon academic product. Method of Instruction: This is an internship. Method of Evaluation: The faculty member will assess the final product that was mutually agreed upon. No student can pass the internship without completing the minimum number of hours for a 3 credit or 6 credit internship. The internship is graded with S-D-F. Meets FEX-Career Related Internship Requirements.

Prerequisite(s): Completed some sophomore coursework in the ENG major, Junior or Senior Standing, and Instructor’s Signature Required. Also need to complete a contract with the Office of Career Services, before registering for course.
