EDU 3645 - PRACTICUM IN LITERACY EDUCATION:CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Students may need to be flexibility in their scheduling, because of working around pre-scheduled school activities such as teacher prep time, specials, lunch, etc. This one-hour practicum based course is offered in conjunction with EDU 3345 . Students will complete a college-supervised field experience with a minimum of thirty-four hours in an elementary school setting. Students will apply their course work related to planning and performing curriculum, instruction, and assessments in classrooms within the local school districts. Objectives: A) Assess literacy needs of elementary level students; B) Plan appropriate literacy activities for elementary level students; C) Implement appropriate literacy activities for elementary level students; D) Plan, create, administer and analyze formative and informative literacy-based assessments for elementary students; E) Demonstrate respect and positive rapport with students. Method of Instruction: Classroom experiences where students are implementing content from EDU 3345 . Method of Evaluation: Observation, Written reflections, Assessment analysis, and Participation graded on a Pass-Fail basis.
