BIO 3060L - ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY


credits: 1.0
Is a project based lab course that will concentrate on measuring and analyzing basic physiological mechanisms at the organ system as well as the cellular level. Will learn skills in experimental design and analysis as well as using physiological polygraphs and transducers. Topics include: digestive, renal, muscle, nerve, circulatory, respiratory and endocrine physiology. Objectives: A) Form hypotheses and predictions regarding physiological mechanisms; B) Design and carry out experimental protocols in physiology individually and in groups; C) Statistically analyze data and explain their significance in oral and written formats. Method of Instruction: Discussion and hands-on experimentation. Method of Evaluation: Based on two or three laboratory reports or posters (40%), weekly laboratory notebook (50%) and the demonstration of safe and proper laboratory practices (10%). Lab Fee: $75.00.
