BIO 1110L - INTRO TO MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY credits: 1.0 This is the laboratory component of the Introduction to Microbiology course designed for the nursing major. The purpose of this course is to give students hands-on training on the techniques and concepts encountered in the microbiology laboratory. Students will advance their learning and further develop their laboratory skills in the context of the microbiological sciences. Objectives: A) Utilize and experimentally manipulate techniques used to isolate and study microbes, and the techniques and materials used in the control of microbes; B) Develop and demonstrate the ability to safely perform laboratory experiments resulting in the generation of scientific data. Method of Instruction: Laboratory demonstration, lecture, and hands-on experimentation. Method of Evaluation: Based on pre and post lab written results (50%), lab practical (30%) and the demonstration of safe and proper laboratory practices (20%). Lab Fee: $125.00.
Co-Requisite(s): MUST BE TAKEN WITH BIO 1110L LECTURE.
