BIO 3950 - ALASKAN ECOLOGY credits: 6.0 This course is a study of the flora and fauna of the Kenai Peninsula, and expose students to Alaskan culture and society. The focus will be an independent research project. Students will research and present topics in ecology as they relate to the specific environment of Alaska. Objectives: A) Demonstrate an understanding of key ecological concepts; B) Describe the natural history of Alaska and its waterways and inlets; C) Summarize and explain primary ecological literature; D) Create testable hypotheses on ecology; E) Execute and present field research projects involving field data. Method of Instruction: Classroom and Field lecture-discussions, Media presentations, Independent literature review, Independent research project, Field trips and reports. Method of Evaluation: Attendance 15%, Blog page 15%, Project Notes 30%, Project Presentation 30%, and Literature Presentation 10%. TRAVEL COURSE, FEES ASSOCIATED.
