BIO 1900 - LIFE: ITs ORIGINS AND ITs FUTURE

What is life? How did it begin on Earth and develop into the variety of life we see today? Where might evolution take us next? Is there life on other planets? This course will discuss all of those questions and more. It is designed for students majoring in all subjects. Objectives: A) Discuss what is required for life; B) Explain the basic principles behind evolution; C) Demonstrate an understanding of how life today is related D) Be able to develop a testable scientific hypothesis. Method of Instruction: Short lectures about specific topics, Group work in class, and Laboratory. Method of Evaluation: Participation (participating in class discussions and group work) 40%, Lab and class project summaries 30%, and Written exam(s) 30%. Meets *PLS Distribution Requirement.
