An in-depth study of painting from the latter half of the nineteenth century in France focusing primarily on Impressionism and Post- Impressionism. The development of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism will be examined, as well as the impact that these two movements had on subsequent artistic periods and styles in France and in the rest of the western world.
