ACC 4550 - ADVANCED ACCOUNTING


credits: 3.0
This course examines advanced accounting concepts, including financial accounting procedures for partnerships, governmental accounting procedures, and the preparation and analysis of consolidated corporate financial statements. Objectives: A) Analyze and record the transactions involved in the formation, operation, dissolution, and liquidation of partnerships and prepare financial statements for general partnerships; B) Understand governmental fund accounting and the reporting standards for fund-based and government-wide financial statements; C) Record basic transactions and prepare financial statements for nonprofit organizations; D) Account for corporate equity investments and prepare consolidated financial statements. Method of Instruction: Lecture and discussion. The student will be expected to read assigned material prior to class and to be prepared to take an active part in classroom discussions and in the solution of assigned problems. Method of Evaluation: Two examinations given during the semester, a final comprehensive examination, class participation, and a paper will be considered in determining the student’s final grade.

Prerequisite(s): ACC 3541 - INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING II  (or) FIN 3541 - INTERMEDIATE ACCOUNTING II
