THE 2120 - INTRODUCTION TO THEATRICAL DESIGN

Will introduce the design processes of the theatre. A study of the principles of visual design. Class sessions will be augmented with projects in line, color, spatial relationships, and movement. Students will learn skills necessary for communicating designs in scenery, costumes, makeup, lighting, and props. More specifically, this course will make an in-depth study of drafting for the stage, set construction, prop construction, scene painting, computer aided design, drafting and 3-D modeling. Method of Instruction: Lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, construction, and painting projects. Method of Evaluation: Two exams (35%) and projects (65%). Meets *MQR Distribution Requirements.
