FIN 3250 - INVESTMENT ANALYSIS AND CONCEPTS


credits: 3.0
This course covers investment planning strategies and concepts. Designed to provide students with an understanding of investment decisions, risk and return measures, equity valuation, bond valuation, investment company analysis, alternative investments and derivatives. Objectives: A) Describe the characteristics, uses and taxation of investment vehicles; B) Identify, measure, and differentiate between types of investments risks; C) Utilize quantitative investment concepts; D) Identify, measure, and interpret investment returns; E) Value stocks, bonds and investment companies; F) Explain and apply investment strategies; G) Describe and assess alternative investments and derivatives; H) Apply portfolio diversification and asset allocation principles; I) Develop portfolios and perform analysis. Method of Instruction: Lecture, Demonstration, and Collaboration. Method of Evaluation: Quizzes 25%; Mid-Term Exam 25%; Final Exam 25%; Class Attendance and Participation 25%. Class attendance and active participation are equally weighted.
