EDU 3647 - PRACTICUM IN LITERACY EDUCATION:ADOLESCENCE EDUCATION

Students may need to be flexibility in their scheduling, because of working around pre-scheduled school activities such as teacher prep time, specials, lunch, etc. This is a practicum component of EDU 3347 . Students will complete a college-supervised field experience with a minimum of thirty-four hours in a middle/high school setting. Students will apply their course work related to planning and performing curriculum, instruction, and assessments in classrooms within the local school districts. Objectives: A) Assess literacy needs of middle/high school students; B) Plan appropriate content area literacy activities for middle/high school students in their concentration area; C) Implement appropriate content area literacy activities for middle/high school students in their concentration area; D) Plan, create, administer and analyze formative and informative assessments for of middle/high school students Demonstrate respect and positive rapport with students. Method of Instruction: Classroom experiences where students are implementing their individualized strategies created in EDU 3347 . Method of Evaluation: Observation, Written reflections, Assessment analysis, and Participation on a Pass-Fail basis.
