DAN 1010 - INTRODUCTION TO DANCE I credits: 1.5 thru 3.0 This is a credit variable course for 1.5 thru 3.0 credits. Objectives: Students will learn and appreciate the basic fundamentals of dance forms, which may include modern, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, musical theatre and other contemporary styles. Students will also develop the skills required of a strong, expressive body, gain an understanding of the disciplined body as an instrument of aesthetic expression, and transform conceptual ideas into a non-verbal communicative art form. Method of Instruction: Explain and demonstrate basic skills, lead students in group solo improvisation, assigning group and solo projects. Method of Evaluation: The day by day effort and work by the student in the studio and the presentation of project works is considered. Meets *PEW Distribution Requirement.
