WRT 1000 - WRITING WORKSHOP credits: 1.0 This course may be taken either before or at the same time as WRT 1050. Intended to be taken either before WRT 1010 or along with it, this course is designed to offer extra support for students who struggle with or feel unprepared for college-level writing. This course deepens critical reading of texts while enhancing the student’s ability to express clear and strong ideas using college-level prose. The skills learned in this class will help students develop the confidence they need to succeed in writing for any course or major. Objectives: A) Identify the main point in a piece of writing; B) Identify the supporting points in a piece of writing; C) Annotate a text; D) Develop an idea using appropriate evidence; E) Construct clear, grammatically correct sentences; F) Construct clear, well-organized paragraphs; G) Identify and correct their own basic grammatical errors; H) Read, edit, and revise their own writing. Method of Instruction: Brief lectures, in-class workshops, one-on-one conference, online quizzes (about grammar issues, etc.). Method of Evaluation: Will be graded on pass-fail basis.
