THE 4999 - INTERNSHIP IN THEATRE credits: 3.0 or 6.0 This is a credit variable credit course for 3.0 OR 6.0 credits. This internship is for students interested in working in any field related to Theatre. The internship must take place outside Elmira College, in a professional theatre setting, and be supervised by a theatre professional whose primary employment is at the theatre selected. Students will choose a faculty member to supervise the internship as well. Objectives: A) Students will successfully apply disciplinary knowledge in a setting appropriate to the field of Theatre; B) Students and supervising faculty members will develop at least one additional course-specific learning outcome for the internship. The student will be evaluated by the faculty member on the basis of the learning outcomes. Will be graded on a S-D-F basis. Method of Instruction: This is an internship. Method of Evaluation: The faculty member will assess the final product as mutually agreed. No student can pass the internship without completing a minimum 120 hours for a 3 credit internship or 240 hours for a 6 credit internship. Graded on an S-D-F basis. Meets FEX-Career Related Internship Requirements.
Prerequisite(s): Completed 24 hours of coursework in the Theatre major, Junior or Senior Standing, and Instructor’s Signature Required. Also need to complete a contract with the Office of Career Services, before registering for course.
