PHR 3801 - BELIEF, COSMOLOGY, AND RELIGION credits: 3.0 Crosslisted/Same As: ANT 3801 ANT 3801 -PHR 3801. Designed to acquaint students with the social, cultural, and psychological consequences of belief systems and practices as documented by anthropological research. Students are encouraged to develop a cross-cultural perspective regarding religious behavior through understanding religion’s adaptive dimension in both primitive and modern societies. Will explore such topics as magic, shamanism, cosmology, and religion in a variety of geographic settings. Method of Instruction: Class meetings with formal and informal lectures as well as class discussions of lecture topics and assigned readings. Method of Evaluation: Exams, research papers, and participation. Meets *NWP Distribution Requirement.
