MAT 1000 - ESSENTIAL MATH SKILLS I credits: 1.0 Objectives: To provide an opportunity for students to gain confidence and competence in basic mathematical skills. The course includes both pre-algebra and elementary algebra. Method of Instruction: A modified tutorial program. Students meet in small groups with an instructor and tutor. Most of the work is self-paced, and help is always available. Method of Evaluation: The course is offered on a pass-fail basis with passing grades assigned to students who attend class regularly and demonstrate progress. Specifically, a student must attend at least thirty hours (for one credit) and satisfactorily complete an amount of material agreed on by student and instructor at the beginning of the course.
Prerequisite(s): BASED ON MATH SKILLS INVENTORY. OTHERS NEED INSTRUCTOR’S APPROVAL.
